I don't actually have any update, just wanted an excuse to post another photo. I'm trying to shovel as much food into Lucy as possible, it just doesn't seem like she could produce enough milk for all these kittens, but they seem to be doing fine so far. I guess they don't become really interesting for a couple of weeks, when they can move around and actually exhibit some kind of personality.
I swear I'm trying to think of something non cat-related to post; old habits die hard!
Thanks for another cat photo, or is that the same one turned just another way?!
The kittens do look adorable even though they are just there trying to suck milk from Lucy. Nice to see the head on the grey one!
What kind of food are you giving Lucy? Hopefully it's the right kind to produce gallons of milk for those little kittens.
I think anything newborn is interesting, but yes a clearer personality in the coming weeks will be nice. How are the other cats reacting to this? Is Lucy letting them near the kittens?
You could post on other topics, such as how your house is coming along. I've heard pros and cons about duplex, and having 1200 square feet on one or two levels.
Maybe a blog entry about any street noise now that it's summertime, and people are out in the streets, with water balloons, loud music, etc.? Or what your parents thought of your house, and their son moving into an ungentrified area. Just some suggestions.
It's hard for your life to not go completely kitten-centric when you've got them right there. :)
One bit of advice that we got for Stumpy and the Teenies was to mix some kitten food in with the regular food we were feeding her as a way to increase the nutrient content.
i started feeding Lucy kitten food, some dry and some canned. she's still a kitten herself and doesn't appear to be in any danger of obesity.
i'll try to work up energy for a post about street-noise, or more specifically, how i spent tons of time and money soundproofing the basement when i should have been soundproofing the neighbors!
Thanks for taking the comments we offered Jimmy. Yes, spending money on a home continues and continues. Weekend trips to Home Depot seem to add up to what you'd pay for a studio apt. in a month.
I heard about the double paned windows which keep out the noise which could run you $10,000. Good luck trying to combat noise pollution. Oh and watch out for basketballs heading towards your windows.
Yes, soundproofing your windows can be hard, and if you have a frame house the noise could travel through there if it wasn't built right.
I agree it would be interesting to see how duplex living compares. I think it would be tiresome to have a kitchen and living room on one floor and everything else above it. Ever get tired of going up those stairs.
Good luck with Lucy and her kittens - you've given them a nice home so far.
hey, what kinda guy would i be if i were to turn around and throw em back on the street?
but if that works as incentive ... well, it's never too early to start taking kitten adoption applications!! if anyone is at all interested, please let me know (jimmy at jimmylegs.com)
the kittens will be consuming only Lucymilk for the next several weeks and then eventually science diet kitten chow. actually what's of more concern is Lucy's attempt to grab our tortilla chips.
meanwhile, the other cats want absolutely nothing to do with the goings-on in the closet, which is pretty much how they acted last time i raised a batch of kittens.
