Evil is his one and only name
I
spent a lot of the weekend doing screen printing-related activities
for our single. We're about 65% done, but there's still a lot
of crap to get done before we can sell our wares in the open
market. Last night I passed out some time around 10 PM, but
then woke up at 1 AM and could not get back to sleep. I started
doing my day job at around 3 AM. I know I've been staying out
pretty late on the weekends, but that hasn't kept me from promptly
falling asleep at more or less usual times in the past. And
I figured after all the fatigue of printing, I wouldn't have
any trouble staying asleep. So it must be something else keeping
me up nights. It must be THE
CAR!

This 1977 horror cult classic predates the relatively tepid
Christine
by several years and scared the pants off Buzz when he was
a lad. One can only assume that its horror index has only
increased in the intervening years and now must be among the
most frightening films of all time. I mean, it's a CAR, and
it's EVIL! As a full-time pedestrian, what could be scarier?
Nothing, that's what.
The Car plays for one horrifying night only, next
Tuesday at BAM,
at 6:50 and 9:15. I'm not sure which show I'll be attending,
probably the earlier one since it's more convenient for BAM
employees. But I'll keep you posted.
I think it's highly telling that when the now-defunct show
Futurama needed a model of an evil car for the episode
"The Honking" (wherein Bender the robot becomes
cursed to change lycanthropically into a murderous automobile),
they had to look no further than this fine piece of American
cinema.
