The two of us need look no more That's a bad picture but last night at the Clinton-Washington C station there were 3-5 baby rats running around on the platform. They kept peeking out of the drainpipes (or whatever the hell those things are, sometimes they seem like they were designed just to help rats get around), and running back and forth between them. You must take my word that they were just darling. They were only about the size of gerbils (which I believe are actually a species of rat anyway), and they weren't all grimy and gross looking yet. Flight of the bumble bee Now comes the time when I must book a flight to Cleveland for the Christmas holiday. Now that my sister has taken over hosting these festivities, leaving town has become a less painful affair all around. I used to have to go to southern Illinois or southern Indiana, which was a real drag. My mother's relatives all live in tiny towns, each in the middle of nowhere, with nothing to see or do except watch Animal Planet all day. Oh yeah, in my mother's town they have a riverboat casino, of which I partook a few years ago and shall not attempt again. Cleveland is therefore far superior, it's a big city with stuff going on and lovely bars in which to sequester myself. Also I know several people who will be available to take some of the burden of my presence off my family. But I'm having trouble figuring out when to go. In any case I'll probably return on Christmas Day, as tickets are always cheaper then. But when do I go out? It seems the cheapest flights are on Tuesday the 21st. And you're to blame Is every one back in town yet? Man what a boring weekend. I was on 'cat time' for the past several days (term I learned from Kate over Thanksgiving); I just laid myself on the bed and did nothing except whine to be fed every hour. Actually in many cases the cats were more dynamic than me. I didn't chase anybody or hide in a bag in the past 48 hours. My mother has asked me what I want for Christmas, and I think I finally know: I want a HeartStart Home Defibrillator! How many times have I been hanging out with my pals, only to have our good time ruined by an unexpected cardiac arrest? Too many to count! Now, with this home defibrillator, I never have to worry about the possible embarrassment of having one of my guests (or myself) drop dead in front of everyone else!
