Six foot yesterday, now I'm five foot three
Think you've got it bad? Just be glad you're not Mike the Headless Chicken! Got his head cut off and continued to live for a year and a half!

no shit!

Last night I learned that life is too short to sit around some bar where they are pumping awful, awful disco music. However, I also learned that the music of Andrew WK is scientifically designed to make drunk people dance around, no matter how insipid the song may in fact be.

Speaking of music that rocks, Oneida is playing tomorrow with Oakley Hall and Magnolia Electric Co. It's at the Knitting Factory, so get drunk somewhere cheap before going to the show. Then again I guess the PBR is like $3, which is still highway robbery but will also still get you shellacked. Eventually.

From the brim to the dregs

Hey, it's Buzz's birthday! He's finally as old as me. Also it's Abby's birthday, and Janice's birthday (Hmm, no blog yet), and Sarah Michelle Gellar's, and Adrien Brody's.

In the Really Important News Department, I've been feeding a squirrel on my roof. Wow. I had been feeding it sunflower seeds, but then I ran out. So I've been testing other foodstuffs. It really likes peanut butter, which I have served to it on crackers and bread. I tried feeding it grapes and raisins too but it doesn't seem to know those are also food. I tired sticking the raisins in the peanut butter but it just picked them out. Shouldn't squirrels like that stuff?

Anyway, the squirrel is getting feisty if I don't have something for it to eat every day. It gets into the windowsill and stares at me with hatred. Now, what I want to know is, does my experimentation with the squirrel have anything to do with the landlady calling an exterminator to remove squirrels from the upper part of the building? Oops.

We live in the city
Thanks to the folks who turned out for the show on Friday. Hope everybody had a good time. It was a good show all around, but the club took on a very different atmosphere when the karaoke machine started up. Late-night, drunk bar karaoke is a fascinating animal that will bear further study by this scientist. The crowd was rarin' to go, and the host did his best to keep everybody's attention. At some point he decided it was necessary to run around the stage naked and, reportedly, rub the microphone on his nether regions. After hearing this, I am glad I did not get up and sing anything (although I may be back for a round of "Come on Eileen" when the mic has been disinfected).

Saturday night there was a benefit for C Squat, which must be one of the last true squats in New York City. It's a 5-story tenement peopled with super-gritty punks and what appeared to be runaway teenagers. I had no idea something like this still existed. Despite the rubble-strewn basement, passed-out/nodding-out bodies lying around, and the occasional gob, the sound system was decent and the bands sounded good. I need to find out more about this place. How is it that Todd P gets hassled by the cops and FDNY for his space which is basically in the middle of nowhere, and yet this place, on Avenue C in plain sight (it's right next door to the C-Note), can continue housing homeless punks and holding loud rock shows for 20 years without the authorities intervening? I dunno, but it's pretty cool it's still around.

After the show we went to Mona's which was full of characters. Some drunk train-wreck of a Party Girl showed up, stumbling around in a strappy black dress that appeared to be held up by sheer willpower. As if on cue, her boob popped out at some point and remained there for a good while before anybody brought it to her attention. Oddly enough, when we got on the L train to go home later, a woman on the train also produced some boob, apparently as a result of her drunk snogging with her man friend. Can summer be far behind?

On to the photos (sorry, I wasn't quick enough with the camera for the boobage)!

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all

I've got more pictures from this erogenous zone-filled weekend, but let's just reflect on this little gem for now.
